About Teach ES

Charles E. Teach Elementary School is an open enrollment, public elementary school that offers an accelerated learning environment for 4th-6th grade students in San Luis Coastal Unified School District.  Find out more at the Teach School here, how to enroll here and sign up for a tour here.

Teach Elementary School has been recognized as a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School and is the only school within the Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties that has won the award three separate times (2012 and 1992 previously).  Teach Elementary Principal Ms. Batistic and Student Council presented at the Dec 4, 2018 School Board meeting.  Teach Elementary School has also been recognized as a 2018 California Distinguished School.

Teach was ranked as #1 out of 5,650 California public elementary schools by School Digger in Sep 27, 2017 for 2016-17 and ranked a 10 out of 10 by Great Schools.

  • Dec 2019 4th graders raised $2,001.57 for Jack's Helping Hand.  
  • Dec 2018 4th graders raised $2,006.68 for Jack's Helping Hand.  Special shopping guests included Mayor Heidi Harmon and SLCUSD School Board members Chris Ungar and Ellen Sheffer.  Tribune article.
